What is the defintion of a generic rectangle in math?

Math Help

Okay so I am doing a project for math that is due on Monday. The only problem is that I had to turn in my math book and the whole project is based on defintitons.Well our teacher didn’t tell us before this that this was what the project was….he just told us ten minutes before we had to turn in our books. So the point is I need the mathmatical defintion of a generic rectangle.
I also need to know the defintion of the word Justify.

A quadrilateral that has 4 right angles, and 2 pairs of parrallel lines(a square is considered a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square)…make sense (=

rectangle: a four-sided figure with four right angles and with opposite sides equal and parallel

Justify…not necessarily “prove” but by proving something you would be justifying it.

Justify just means “give good reasons for your choice or answer by way of explanation or examples”

Definition of a rectangle is a quadrilateral with 4 right angles
A property of a rectangle is that the opposite sides are parallel and equal

Definitions of justify on the Web:

“show to be reasonable or provide adequate ground for; “The emergency does not warrant all of us buying guns”; “The end justifies the means”
show to be right by providing justification or proof; “vindicate a claim”
apologize: defend, explain, clear away, or make excuses for by reasoning; “rationalize the child’s seemingly crazy behavior”; “he rationalized his lack of success”
absolve: let off the hook; “I absolve you from this responsibility”
adjust the spaces between words; “justify the margins” “

A rectangle is a four-sided figure (quadrilateral) with all internal angles equaling 90 degrees. This will automatically give two pairs of parallel sides that are also congruent.

“Justify” means give reasons to support your answer. A proof will usually justify your answer, but the question is not restricting you to a recognised proof. For example, if you are really good at maths you might find your own proof, or find some other way of supporting your answer…a valid one of course.

I think it was Einstein who discovered a quick way of adding all the numbers from 1 to 100 when he was in junior primary school, for example.
