I’m trying to figure out what I want to major in, in college. I’ve started looking at colleges, but I’m not convinced as to what I want to study. I’m very good in math and I’m really good with numbers. Both my parents majored in accounting but I’m not sure exactly what way is best for me. Any suggestions?

I have tried taking regular math classes in college, but I can’t learn it out of a book. Classes, teachers and tutors did not help much either. But I have heard that they can teach math differently now. I hear they can do it on a computer and that helps some people. But I don’t know what, if any thing will help me.
I tried taking algebra I Twice and failed both times. Even when I went to class all the time and had a tutor.
What else can I do now?

I have a degree in secondary math education and have taught at both the high school and college level. How much would you be willing to pay for “one on one” or “small group (4 or less)” tutoring per hour? I live in the Kansas–if geography has any bearing on the answer.
I would be tutoring at the hs and/or college level only. Algebra, Geometry, Trig, and Basic Calculus.

I’m fairly good with computers. I’ve been working with them on a daily basis for 15 years. I know how to build them from barebone parts, and I also know a few programming languages. I want to make my career as a computer programmer. I feel I should be ok with any of the curriculum requirements except for the math subjects, so I want to prep myself before diving in. I know Algebra and Calculus are required, but what else should I know?

I hope to obtain at least a master’s in something biology-related, but I’m only average in math. Could I get away with taking only algebra+trig (one course), geometry, and statistics?

Does the schools and the tests really think that we would remember everything we learned in math from 5th to 12th grade? I’m a senior now, and I don’t even remember anything I’ve done in Geometry, nor Algebra. How are we suppose to? Are we expected to look at all of our past works and study them? You know how many things there are to remember? I don’t think a human being can remember that much.
