Math for Dummies books are good. You will need to learn algebra and geometry. Not hard, but you do need to study it. Get a tutor. That would be the best way to learn. That way you are accountable.
Everyone says they suck at math. Math gets a bad rap because people are afraid of it. Trust me, anyone can do math if they try.

Either a/ enter The Matrix and get brain programming or b/ find a really good tutor, someone who knows how to teach. It sounds like you have a good basis and a will to learn. Now what you need is someone to explain the books to you, and help you identify and work through problems.
You could try contacting the math department at your local university or college, as many graduate students do tutoring part-time. You could also check posting boards at the library, as often people advertise there.
You also need to start with a positive attitude: if you keep thinking that you suck, you will always put a negative spin on things, instead of trying harder or a different way. A good teacher can explain stuff to you, turn it around, help with problems – but only you can learn.
