law of sine is used to find a side of triangle using trignometry when you are given 2 angles !

Hi BDavis,

The law of sines gives you a relation between a side of a triangle and the angle that is opposite to it.

A picture will help you to see this. Draw a triangle and label the angles a, b, and c. Now label each side of the triangle based on the angle that is opposite to it. For example, the side that is opposite to angle a, should be labeled A. The side opposite to angle b, should be B. And the side opposite to angle c should be C.

The law of sines states that there’s a constant relation between the sine of an angle and its opposing side. This relation is:
sin(a)/A = sin(b)/B = sin(c)/C

This equation can be used to solve problems where you have 2 angles and a side, or 2 sides and an angle.
