Math Help

I’m home schooled, and I’d like to know where I stand as far as what other students will have completed by their senior year in math class specifically. I know that it certainly varies depending on what levels are taken, Honors classes, AP, etc., but what do you think is the average peak math course?

Algebra 2, Geometry, Trig., Pre Calc, Calculus, Statistics, etc.?

Thanks!

How do I work in a team in math class?

Math Help

In math class the teacher always tells us to work in teams, but I’m not good at math, and the other kids don’t know either, and if they do they don’t explain. Then when I ask the teacher she tells me to work with them.

Math Help

Lately I’ve been doing really bad in math class. I got a D on my last test, despite the fact that I studied really hard and reviewed the entire chapter. Now we’ve moved on and are focusing in on how to become a better problem solver, but that isn’t my problem. Does anybody out there have good tips for me?

I have a friend who does his homework and scores C’s in all of his math classes, but when it always came to science he always outranked everybody else. AP Physics really set him apart from everyone else. It was a joke to him, but he got out of Algebra II with a C+ and didn’t take a math course his senior year. What’s the problem? He never really studies, but he’s currently an Honor Graduate, so I guess he couldn’t be considered that lazy if he did well.

Math Help

Here’s the story: Tommorow i have a math test 5th period. I have 3rd and 4th period free to study for it. I know hardly anything on what the test is on. And i will have someone there to help explain some stuff.

To help direct your answers:

How has last minute studying worked for you?
Will drinking something with caffeine help me, or make me more stressed out during the test?
Any test taking strategies you want to give?

Please spare me the lecture on studying before hand, this is an isolated circumstance and because of certain reasons i was unable to study this weekend.

Thanks!

Does the math department and english department talk to one another?

Math Help

In my classes, the math teachers and english teachers belittle one another to their students all of the time. It’s a well known fact that Math teachers (at least in front on the students) cannot stand English teachers. Is this all a facade? Do english and math teachers do this to trick the students? Add this to the fact that their classrooms are two buildings apart. Do you (as teachers perhaps?) feel there is a lot of communication going on between the two?
